Steve Vai's take on the Axe FX II

Great to hear such a musician, so well versed in effects, heap this kind of praise on the Axe Fx. You can tell how enamored he is of the capabilities. The interviewer seems familiar with the stomp boxes, but missed a great chance to pick his brain on what he was doing with the Axe Fx. Good to hear his enthusiasm for the music and equipment remains after all the years.

And how to save a pick... priceless.

Just an FYI for onlookers, this is a video that runs 26:17 at 17:53, Steve starts talking about the Axe Fx equipment.

This is ancient history, from 2012! :) Note that Steve uses his own Carvin amps, so his love of the Axe-FX is obviously not unbounded. Finally, I agree that Rebecca Dirks is a great interviewer, but sadly she is no longer at PG.

Who said his love for the Axe is unfettered? He's still using it, by the way, as is Neil Schon(though he's upgraded from the Ultra to the II).

I don't know if this goes in the general discussion area or this one, but if not this one then I apologize. I thought this was interesting, though:

That's like my pedal collection except my pedals are on shelves instead of cabinets. I was thinking of getting two or three large Craftsman tool drawers on casters and putting my pedals in those so I can wheel them around my studio when I am recording and roll them back to the engineering room when I'm done.
