I've finally come up with a convincing dual amp patch for my U2 tribute (Achtung Babies) and recorded a few tunes to hear what it would sound like in a mix through my rig.
All fx are from my pod hd500x (yes, I know.. i just didnt want to start programming the fx on the axe until I got the core amp tone right!).

Would you mind share how to tweak the core tone? Which cabs do you use?
 
Great tone. I've been trying to come up with a good U2 core tone. Can you share it? I enjoy your BT's by the way also. Great to practice with.
 
Thanks guys, actually I'll be making a few adjustments, I just got to A/B it with the original reference clip and I need to add some crunch on the left amp and make the R side a little darker. Anyways, left amp is ac30tb into rw ac30 blue edge cap, right amp is ac30hw into rw ac30 blue cone edge

Sounds great!

Back in the day I was in a similar gigging situation and from my research it was found that the Edge preferred more darker or 'worn-out' AC30s for his favorite amps which lead me to the conclusion that a good portion of the 'bite' to his sound most likely came from the SDD-3000 preamp.
 
The problem is that Edo is Edo .
Even with the same preset, i can not imagine to sound even close.

Man, those sound really good. Of the 3, Pride seems like it would be the toughest to nail tone wise. I haven't tried it, but I'm thinking I'm going to have to give it a shot now.

The clip I made for Pride is a bit lame because I didn't setup the sdd3000 like I normally do.. But anyways, if we think of the Pride (In the Name of Love) tone in the last tours, I think a big part of the tone comes from the strat tuned a whole step down with thicker strings. I do that live and it definitely sounds way different.
