    The waiting begins. Axe FX-2

Andrew at IM is great. If you haven't already flick him an email and he might be able to give you an update on the shipping. BTW the Axe is totally worth the wait :D Cheers.

does the Ax smoke a pod hd?

Couldnt disagree more. Been through a few modellers and the axe fx rules the high gain roost as well in terms of fullness, body and definition. Crushing.

External Pedal Control not working properly

I agree with this being a bug. I have a Mission EP 1 spring loaded that I use for auto engaging the wah. Since the update I have to move the wah quickly to get it to engage which can sound very naff on a slow solo where I want to just rock the wah gently. If I do rock it slowly it doesn't...

What amp would you buy if the Axe Fx didn't exist?

I'd still have my Mesa Tremoverb. That thing sounded sweet and was quite versatile. Shame it had tubes though ;)

Seemless scene switching with 2 amp blocks?

Thanks, that makes sense. I was under the (mistaken) impression that X/Y were both already loaded so couldn't understand the dropout. Now I know better. Maybe we need more amp blocks :D Cheers.
  9. S

Seemless scene switching with 2 amp blocks?

So what's the difference between switching X/Y and switching Amp1/2 that causes a dropout on the former and not on the latter? I would have thought that if all the data was loaded with the preset it shouldn't dropout, but obviously I'm wrong. Cheers.
  10. S

What don't you miss from your old amps before you picked up an Axe?

I don't miss that it sounded different every other time I turned it on. Or that I spent hundreds of dollars trying to get it to sound like an amp in the room never would i.e. the tones I was hearing on recordings. In relation to this I don't miss the constant tone chasing. I also don't miss that...

FENDER TWIN REVERB / DRIVE LOW LOW LOW but STILL BREAKING UP / ANY ADVICES ?

Interesting, that explains perhaps why different people are expecting such different things from the fenders. Any chance then of e.g. a nice clean silver face twin reverb? It seems to be a common clean amp in modern rock. Thanks! Cheers.

    Strings

Been using D'Addario forever in various gauges (10's, 11's and 10-52 for down tuning). IME they're a little brighter sounding and can lift the sound of a dark guitar that little bit that counts. I had a brief flirtation with Ernie Ball strings but found them a little bass heavy. Cheers.

MFC Tap Tempo = Tuner (response time)

Yep, the tuner/tap button combo is very cool but I don't use it for the simple fact that the tuner takes too long to engage. Maybe I'm just impatient ;) Cheers.

Copy settings one block to other

My presets currently only have 1 amp with X/Y but I want to take full advantage of scenes. auto correct - maybe not such a good idea

My wife was out one night and I had a nightmare getting the kids to bed. When I finally got them to bed I txt'd her to let her know. Update through Axe-FX II/ethernet cable?

This has been discussed before. While it would be awesome the verdict was (IIRC, can't find the thread right now) that it was not possible due to hardware, so couldn't ever be implemented. Cheers.

Adding/Removing blocks when in scene mode

I think when he says 'add an effect' he means to switch an effect on. I'm away from my Axe at the moment (another city :( ) but I think the OP needs to look into the Scene Revert setting. Cheers.

Remove X/Y on amps and cabs?

I think four unique amp blocks would require a lot more processing power than two amp blocks with X/Y options. If the Axe FX II could handle four amp blocks I think it would have four amp blocks rather than two with X/Y. Just my 2c, I think four amp blocks would be awesome if it was possible as...

So how many of you made the switch to 'all axe'...?

Started out amps & pedals then the need for more versatility and a quieter rig led me down the modeling path to a GSP1101. Loved that setup but couldn't help the nagging itch that I knew there was better out there. Eventually got an Axe II about a year ago and have never regretted a thing. I...

Using Scenes and Looper - Any advice on how to approach this?

I haven't set up my scenes yet but I plan to run 5 scenes along the bottom row, short tap reveal for looper, hold for extra IAs (I will use the looper and scenes much more than the extra IAs). The awesome thing about the Axe + MFC is it's so flexible now it should be able to be set up to suit...

Question regarding Firmware updates... Is This Normal?

My last firmware update was excruciatingly slow despite previous ones being comparatively quick. Failed to take the first time but worked fine the second. Two attempts to load took about 30-40 minutes. So mileage most definitely does vary :) Cheers.

Using Scenes and Looper - Any advice on how to approach this?

+1 This functionality is built into the MFC and is really handy. I have mine the other way around (short tap for looper) as I use the looper more than the extra IAs. Cheers.
  39. S

    Scenes Setup and a Question

I think this is a great idea also. You currently can have this functionality with banks i.e. select a bank but the preset doesn't change until you select a one, it would be great to extend this functionality to scenes as well. Cheers Steve

MFC Patch change latency with AFXII

There's no doubt about it that it's faster, I assume from your answer that that's because I'm just changing the amp and cab and sometimes a drive pedal. Could you extrapolate from that then that there would be no or very little drop out when switching patches that were only amp and cab? Cheers.
  54. S

no whats in V9.0 thread yet?

Can the MFC be set up to just change patches using bank up and down? I envision with this having the bottom row of buttons for switching scenes and no patch change buttons, if I want to change patch (which I would now have to do very rarely) I could use the bank up and down buttons. /me excited :D

    Preset Switching Latency

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll check out the suggestions. In case it matters I'm talking about going from a clean rhythm sound to a dirty rhythm sound, e.g. the change happens going from the verse to the chorus of the song. So the change needs to be very precise. Cheers.
  60. S

    Preset Switching Latency

No, I don't really use reverb and delay. The delay is quite noticeable e.g. If you're playing clean then goe to dirt on the downstroke there will be a delay before the patch switches over. It sounds very messy like you have no sense of timing. This doesn't happen with X/Y. And this is with...
  61. S

    Preset Switching Latency

Still annoying though, esp. considering other older modellers didn't have the issue. My recommendation, look into X/Y switching. Not as flexible but a lot smoother. Cheers.
  62. S

MFC Patch change latency with AFXII

My advice, depending on how much flexibility you need would be to check out X/Y switching. It has it's own set of annoyances but is much quicker at switching than preset switching. Cheers.
  63. S

Bug? When I turn on my AXII all my amps blocks are set to 59 bassman

If you have a button set up to xy the patch will default to y when you select it. Hit your xy switch and I think you'll find what you're looking for. Cheers. PS I find it odd that patches default to y yet you hear very briefly x when you select a patch. If it loads x first why make it...

    Fractal Noob

Everyone before has already pointed out the good things so I'll just mention my one gripe and that's the delay when changing patches. It may or may not be an issue for you depending on the type of music you play and the delay is tiny, but if you're e.g. on clean and want to hit the dirty patch...

Question About MFC, Patch switching/multiple changes

IMO it should be possible to have e.g. 3 patches (clean, dirty, lead) and switch between them seamlessly. I could do it with my ME-50. I could do it with my GSP1101. I could do it with my Tremoverb (well, two channels anyway). Alas I can't do it with my Axe II and for me it's a real shame...
  76. S

    Tremonti "All I Was"

Unfortunately I have to agree. I listened to all the previews and thought the vocals sounded like an odd mash up of Myles and Scott. The guitar playing is great but yes, very Alter Bridge. A real shame I think, I was pretty hyped when I heard about the album, but I don't think I'll be buying it...

    'Drop tunings'.........hmmmmmmm

I like playing drop D down half a step, so I guess drop C#. Down enough to be different but not so far down it's...

PC Audio through the AXE II > What am I missing?

Thanks, this is handy to know (although I wish I'd known this 6 months ago). I checked the manual and it says USB 2 support required, which I would have assumed USB 3 would have provided (maybe not, not up on USB specs TBH). Maybe this could be made more obvious in release notes or something...

Axe-Fx II Firmware Version 6.01 Up

Strange, 6.01 sounds very different to me, there's a whole lot of high end harshness that's gone now. Although I have to say my Axe did something weird after I updated the firmware. The update went fine then about 1 minute into playing the volume level dropped drastically and the tone went to...
