PRS shopping today - I picked one!

That is unusual no? a Custom with natural neck like that? That would be right up my preferred alley. Dang. Yeah I'm not always crazy about reddish guitars and now i have 3. seems to be every good deal Ive had its a red one. Maybe there's a star trek red shirt thing going on here. Also gear hunter is great. I've bought two guitars and my Roland Edrums off of it. All good deals. Coming from Ontario is a shame I'd get hit with that extra 7% tax i think it works out to. Here in Alberta only GST
Just popped on to gear hunter to see what's on...and man they have loads of nice gibsons for ya @Budda

Most gibsons on GH are at or above what i would pay, and thats before tax. Most private deals are far better. Theres a 2016 R8 for $3800 on my other forum right now and im a little tempted tbh.

Re rosewood neck: it used to be a $500? factory add-on until around 2010? Or so. Then it became WL/dealer run/private stock only. And i barely ever see customer ordered rosewood necks in Canadian listings.

So like a DIY approach. That would actually be a lot of fun. Plus ready to step up my DIY game. I've done loads of pickup swaps and have done harness once or twice. a Warmoth build would be interesting. I feel like a tele style would be the right kind of project for that....I assume you mean a DIY build/partscaster yes?
The one I just assembled has a Warmoth snakehead Tele neck and a Rebirth Guitar Co. body, and all Rutters hardware. It really plays great, and sounds awesome. The pickups are the Dawgtown 5/2 set out of my VZ. I upgraded that with the Fralin and Lawrence pickups I had in the drawer....

Dude, I don't know whether to laugh or give you a hug… that's the way with them.

Yup....

I got the blue one. SE 24 Standard. Loved it. Then the SE 245. Loved it. Then the violet CU24, Adele (my grandmother's favorite color, and named for her middle name) caused me to drive the El Paso to Dallas stretch I swore I'd never drive again after the trip out to Azirona in '91, and I absolutely loved it. Then I spotted Hobbes. Gorgeous, great playing axe, and sounds amazing. Finally, the triple P90 "St. Evergreen" (named after an old bandmate) showed up. Loved it!

Right, but that's just you. :)

I've got FIVE PRS, and so far I've remained firm and not given in to other guitars. I have two from prior that have survived multiple purges but….

Dude.

Sweetwater has a core CU24 in Bonnie Pink listed that I am (so far) successful in not buying....
Maybe you should take up selling Mary Kay cosmetics, then go home and say “See honey! You said it’d never matter, and laughed when I said I know a bunch of Glitter Rock players! I earned this!” :)

I built a partstele: 69' Thinline body - Candy Apple Red, white pearloid pickguard, American vintage style bridge with Callaham compensated barrel saddles, Fralin High Output Split blades and an American Standard Strat neck. Great guitar all the way around.

Working on finishing a Warmoth neck to put on it with the 1.650 nut width and Fatback profile.

Realized that's an older pic with the Fender 6 saddle bridge.

Took the day off to go down to one of the local shops that has an impressive array of PRS guitars. I've long lusted for a PRS model. No idea what will happen later today. What i've been considering for well over a year: CE24 (though less likely now) , S2 SC594, HBII piezo. I'll be also looking at a core Tremonti, some nice CU24's etc.

I'll add some PRS porn pics from store later when I'm there. If you were me and was likely to throw caution to the wind today...what would you grab?!
I've played a PRS Hollowbody 1 Piezo for over 10 years now, and I still love it! I did however, swap out the pickups in favor of Seymour Duncans. Everyday, I balance my playing time between my Hollowbody and my '69 stock 335. I wish I had 4 hands!

This came across my feed today. 2023 product launches from PRS. They're really hitting the SE's hard this year. DGT etc. I'd love to try out a DGT. Also they doing a 10th anniversary edition in some models such as the S2 594 with the fully fledged LT pickups and mother of pearl inlays. The modern eagle V looks interesting as well.

What I think I'd like is a Custom 22/24 but in satin. I love the gloss finish looks but a satin neck would put me right over the edge

I admit being a PRS whore this last week with all my posts but I gotta say...i can't put down this 594. The irony is it was never on my radar. at. all. set neck. finished. neck. pass. and yet, here I am gushing all over it ...dare i say this is becoming my #1 go to guitar. It just plays so easily and the asymmetrical beefy neck really feels natural to me. Made a dual amp preset today jamming to some STP and got that kerrrrrang and jangle all together that is giving me the clarity I've been looking for. Friedman SB and a Matchbox D-30 with a SSD drive in front. I have fallen in love with playing all over again

Prs makes great guitars and i love my wood library custom 24 that I put a set of Bkp Silos in and its absolutely killer! I will say that lately i’ve been in a dilemma about keeping it or not. But i did get offered a sweet mayones duvell 7 and im going to do it.

Well I pulled a George Costanza reverse move today. Went to guitar shop and played a few Standard 22 Satin's and a gorgeous 10 top core 24-08. I was very close to going with the Standard 22 then walked past another section of guitars hanging on wall 'used'. oh what's this S2 594 all about. finished neck. uggh. well why not try it since i'm here. This was the surprise. man oh man does it play like butter. I don't get it but somehow this one spoke to me. The action/feel was superb on this one and it felt nothing like the S2 594 single cut or core (tremonti) that I tried out yesterday. This double cut has a very different feel to it and wow is it resonant. Immediately could hear a difference as well. I knew in less than 5 min i was taking it home. It was discounted from reg $2529 to $1800. It's a 2022 model. Has a few blemishes on it as you can see on the one horn. few scuffs on back. I can live with those for the price. I certainly did not expect to be bringing a 594 Double cut home but here it is.
Congrats on your new player! They are great guitars - lots of tones/flexibility and play and feel great!

The S2 594 definitely stays. at this shop they have an impressive PRS collection and rare opportunity to really compare models and neck shapes. I tried out some core 594's and after that I just found a gem in mine as it just played better than just about anything I played in the store today from low to high. The Custom 24 ten top piezo just bedazzled me mostly. Piece of art really. It played pretty great though the action was tad high for my liking....Just not enough to justify $7K price tag. Maybe when i retire one day I'll get something that purdy. No purchases today. I get the PRS love now.

It damn near happened. Believe me it was close today but I remain Galadriel. I will diminish, and go into the west....
That $7K price is way too much for that piezo CU24! You can find less expensive models, new and used, on Reverb and Ebay.
