Yeah, I know it's considered a vox variant but I thought i remembered you saying it didn't really operate like a true class a amp.
No "Class A" guitar amps are truly Class A.

That's what you said about the last FW update! And it was true. How much better can the Class A amps get? Cliff, if you keep this up, you're going to single-handedly put the vacuum tube manufacturers out of business! The Class A types are probably the most improved models in this firmware.
Gotcha, thanks for clearing it up. Thought maybe Dan/Matchless had some secret sauce they used...they definitely do it better than most anyone else.No "Class A" guitar amps are truly Class A.
Some of these terms get thrown around so much it's hard to keep up...A vox isnt true class a either

I think el84/Vox I think class a, lol....
upgraded to Q2.01b.. wasn't sure enough to stay there…
so I went back to Q2.0.. within minutes I was certain..
went straight back to Q2.01b..
the feel is just pure joy…
my clean amp of choice for the last 6 or more months has been the 65 Bassman..
but for some reason it just wasn't hitting the spot.. so I thought to try something different..
I've always liked the Turcana Clean so I thought I'd give it another shot..
holy fk… it has absolutely everything I want in a clean amp..
the robustness of the Hiwatt.. the edge of a cleaned JCM800.. and the punch of the Bassman..
it's just great at everything without having to change anything
just set up a nice full-bodied tone that'll clip a touch when you lay-in to the guitar with the neck pup
finger style is thick and clear as a bell
funk sounds absolutely wonderful.. cutting and edgy but never too thin
I have a new fave clean amp…
yet another master stroke from the FAS tone farm
sweeeeet !
2.01
Further improvement of preamp tube models based on measurements. The existing theoretical models, i.e. “Modern”, “Vintage”, etc., have been removed.
There are now six extremely accurate preamp tube types: 12AX7A, ECC83, 7025, 12AX7B, ECC803 and EF86.
Note that the EF86 type has been normalized to have roughly the same gain as the triode types.
Improved power tube saturation modeling. This yields warmer, “tubier” distortion. The PA Hardness parameter is automatically set for each power tube type but may be overridden if desired.
Improved tube interaction modeling. A new parameter, “Harmonics”, controls the amount of interaction. Higher values yield softer distortion.
The default value is set for each amp model but may be overridden.
Fixed Mr Z MZ-8 amp model sounding “off”.
you really should try the Triptik cleans while you're at it.
