Why is the DI sound so loud?

Normally I record via SPDIF, and set up specific presets with the wet/amp sound on the left and the DI guitar sound on the right. I don't often reamp with the DI, but sometimes having it is helpful for editing later.

With my FM9, the DI sound is about as loud as the amp sound. This was not the case with the AX8, where the DI was much quieter. I've attached an example preset.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

When you record via spdif, you must adjust the DI level manually to optimize for best signal/noise and to match guitar input level. That means the level of the recorded audio will be higher than if you record via usb. You must then apply a compensating adjustment when re-amping. That's one of the downsides of using spdif. I have found the SPDIF out to need 18dB of padding to hit a comparable level on the downstream device, in my case, an AxeFX3 Turbo. I set the padding on the FX3, and it seems to work, but I worry about digital clipping....

Thanks, Glenn - i'll read up and adjust. I just didn't remember having to do this on my AX8. I believe I just routed the DI right and the amp left, and the DI came out at the right level for later re-amping.
