What's the safest way to rig up Axe3 with valve amps?

I've got a 4U wooden rack case for the Axe3, for home use like. But if I wanted to go out on the road with my JVM or Dual Recto, I'd be a bit iffy about having it sat on top of the amps, with all the heat from the amp entering the case. So how are people rigging up in this scenario? Just chucking it on the floor or what??

Sorry, I know it's a dumb total n00b question. But haven't seen it being discussed much.

If the 4 U rack is similar size as the head and cab, then you could put the rack between the head and cab?
