Wish using modifiers to control external gear

I love the modifiers in guitar rig and fractal gear. If I understand correctly, modifiers can be controlled with external gear, why could they not be able to control external midi gear? For example, I'd like to add an hx effects soon for some of the oddball fx that my fm3 doesn't have. Being able to use the sequencer or dynamic modifiers to control helix effects would be insane.
 
say you just wanted to program a sequencer pattern to send a midi cc value for on or off to the whammy of a helix. The sequencer can be pointed to any modifiable point in the fm3, why couldn't it send a cc out to other gear to do the same thing?
