In my recent gig, I went a new route (for me). Historically I've been all about lots of scenes/presets to get different tones/gains. This time I set up a preset with a reasonable amount of gain that cleans up with guitar volume into edge-of-breakup, and has a scene with more output volume and delay for leads. I used it for a wide range of songs.
This worked beautifully! I rode my guitar volume all night and got whatever I wanted for gain. Didn't have to keep running to the pedal to change. No "clean" scene or preset.
