Unable to open AX8-Edit

I haven't used my AX8 for a year or so and now am unable to open the AX 8 Edion on my Macbook . I get a box that says "AX8-edit can't be opened because

apple cannot check it for malicious software. The software must be updated. Contact the developer for more information. I have forgotten how to update the software. Any advice is appreciated. I have backed up my banks on the FractalBot. Thanks in advance.
 
Hi - Did you get a fix for this after?

I'm using Ventura 13.1 on a MBP and I have the same problem as Greg did. In system settings>Privacy and security, the options are:
"Allow applications downloaded from - App Store or - App Store and identified developers." The latter is selected but I'm not sure how to specify AX-8 edit software here....
