Tips for low F# tuned bass

So I'm still learning to use my Axe Fx ii XL and I'm wondering if anyone has any general tips for getting better low end articulation and general sound for an F# tuned bass?

Shelf everything below 55Hz to start.
What is your playing style (i.e. tapping versus pick versus finger versus...)? What music pieces are you composing/covering with this tuning? Are there sound clips of tone that you enjoy and want to mimic?

I have two basses with low F#'s that do drastically different "things" for me, and my overall approach to the setup is different between the two. :) The more info you give us, the more we can lend a hand.
