Telecaster neck pup open cover?

Stratman68

I know its been discussed but I couldn't find it. On one of my teles I am installing Fralin Blues specials. I like the look of the chrome open cover on the neck pup but wonder how much high end it will actually take out. I have read that is what it does. I need to make a choice to order them from Fralin web site
Thanks on any input

I sent one of my Fralin Blues in for a repair recently. Since Lindy had to disassemble it anyway, I asked to upgrade to the partially open-top cover. If I remember right, it was only a minor upcharge to do the cover change-out.

My hearing's shot, so I can't really comment knowledgeably whether there a significant tonal difference; I didn't think so, but others with bat-ears may feel differently. I mostly changed the cover for aesthetics on a tele I was building. I was pleased with the new look, and my daughter's spouse, who is also a guitar player, noticed the change next time they were visiting. If I were ordering new pickups, I think I'd go for the slotted tops for the neck covers.

Sorry man just joking a bit. That's why the winking smile was there. But honestly that's why they make the covers, looks and protection, not the tone. But I have no answer to your question about the tone.

No problem and IAH, looks are NOT that important to me except when I am paying $4,000+tax for a guitar with checking on finish and severe discoloration on the rosewood fingerboard.
EDIT: MY MISTAKE The fingerboard is ebony, that's another thread...................
