Speaker directivity modifier for powered floor wedge

Axe-Master
I have been experimenting with Jay's foam speaker directivity modifier and a set of those cheap Kustom KPC12MP powered wedges (as reviewed in another thread).

My goal was to make the off axis response smoother and allow the wedge to be positioned in more places on stage. I found with that wedge, that it did have an ice pick effect (harshness) on axis but didn't sound very good off axis either.

For my first experiment, I just cut a piece of 1" Poly foam into a rectangle the same size as the inner face and covered the whole grill. This worked surprisingly well.

Next, I cut a 3" dia. hole in the foam in front of the 12" speaker. I couldn't tell much difference in the off axis sound; maybe a little more high end.

As I understand it, the foam technique applies to cone transducers.

I currently have the horn in the wedge completely covered with foam. I am assuming the directivity modiifier is not applicable to a non-cone transducer?

Anyway... just wondering if anyone has tried using speaker directivity modification on floor wedges?
