Shimmer effect

Does anyone have a good shimmer preset? I was using the eventide space shimmer effect and I really liked it and I am trying to duplicate that sound. I am a newbie to modeling and have used some of the presets like velvet sun to get a similar sound but not quite the same any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ed

No patch at hand but a tip: adding mild modulation on the multidelay (part of the block) often turns a 'nice' plex delay/shift into a great and lush sounding one.

Great tip. I had a patch with a separate chain with pitch shift and reverb to have a manual shimmer effect when I wanted it. Adding chorus makes a huge difference, thanks!

Yeah, the beauty and power of the Axe-Fx: just add anything you want or like, it's already paid and readily available :)
BTW, the reverb features modulation, too. It's quite amazing what you can do with just a few blocks (delay, multidelay, pitch, reverb) because most of them offer the tools for sonic textures (modulation, diffusion, feedback) by themselves.

Stupid question, what's the difference between the multidelay and delay? Is it just so you can use two delay blocks and get 4 delays without wasting space or...?

With the regular delay block, you get one or two delay lines (mono or stereo/dual) and just basic toneshaping, e.g. EQ, drive/clipping and modulation, and usually the two delay lines are parallel (though you can interconnect them on some modes by feeding signal from the left line into the right and vice versa).

The multidelay features four (I think) independent delay lines, that can be parallel or partially mixed (by feeding one into the other) or in series (see quad series mode). Have a look at the diagram of each type in the manual to understand the "internal signal flow" of the block. Additionally, the multidelay offers more elaborate functions like inbuilt & controllable filters, pitch shifting (which is "recursive" as the shifted signal is fed back and gets shifted again and so on...), rhythm tap, long decay, etc.
My advice: have a look at the manual to get a grasp of what the different modes (or "types") do and then just fool around playing with the Axe-Fx :) Many parameters may seem enigmatic on paper, but once you check out how they alter the sound just by trying out, you'll learn the difference and possibilities of both the delay and the multidelay blocks quickly.

This is the shimmer effect i use. Its based on the preset PEG. I cant find who originally made PEG but all credit goes to them. I removed the FXsend and added a volume control to bypass the signal going through the reverb.

Peg is one of my presets.... Glad someone found it useful.

The FX loop in the preset has an Eclipse and Space in it as I like to add the Eventide flavour into the presets too
