RCF NX-12-SMA vs EV ELX112P: First thoughts/mini-review

[...] until after you've turned in a full blown 4 set gig all night at full on volume... and your ears don't have that damned 'sizzle' "ssssssssszszzzzzzzzzzzzssssssss" frying them out. :D [...]

Point taken and I'm slightly OT here, but for that reason I use molded ear plugs/protection. No matter which monitor, the other guys are having a blast producing noise, too (pun intended), and I'd suffer from "ssssssssszszzzzzzzzzzzzssssssss" after every gig without ear plugs :)

A tip on minimizing "self noise" on the EV112P's: Keep the EV's main level control lower and crank the input gain up and keep the Axe FX output up. Keep the unused input level control at minimum. Correct "Gain structure" is very important in audio systems to maintain minimum noise and adequate headroom. By keeping the input signal and the input gain control higher helps keep the noise down. Watch out for any possible distortion due to clipping of course.
