PEQ vs Cab Block EQ

Hi there,
until now I spent a lot of time adjusting the high and low cut in the cab block or its preamp for my needs.
Now I have placed a PEQ behind the cab block for the first time and I am surprised that I get better results faster. With identical settings and cuts, it sounds tighter and cleaner with the PEQ.
In the meantime, I have saved four PEQ channels with different high cuts and am happy about the fast workflow when creating new presets. At the perform page I now use the "blocking frequency" of Freqenzy 1 and 5 instead of the preamp high and low cut.

Does anyone have a technical explanation for my understanding why this sounds different, and better to my ears?
Regards Holgar
