Noob Question FRFR speaker... Best way to go?

My questions are:

The reason for it is if I am using a "VOX" amp sim, I use a vox or 2x12 open back cab sim...to get the "purest" vox sound?
If I am going for a Big 80's metal sound I have a choice of heads and 4x12's to use? etc...

2nd: Am I using the FRFR as a monitor for me while the axe goes to FOH?

3rd: If I can not go FOH for some reason, do you mic the FRFR?
 
1. Yes, choose the cab that works best for your application.
2. Yes, it could be used as a monitor and placed in front, aimed at your ears.
3. No, you don't want to mic FRFR. You could simply place the FRFR speaker in your backline like a traditional amp and let it project your sound provided it has enough volume for your needs.
