How to set a CC# to a Source?

I want Digital Performer to send a CC# to a volume block. How do I assign a CC to one of the sources for example External 1 or some other source. Question, do. all the sources have a cc assigned to them by default, if so how would I know what that was.

Setup -> MIDI/Remote -> External. Select an unused External Control and press "Learn". Send a CC event from DP. Now you can use that External Control as the source in a modifier you attach to any parameter. After you do that, you can send CC events with that CC# from DP to control the parameter.
