How to reset default parameter in AE3.0.5

I'm doing some amp editing and for comparison, am trying to minimize departure from the default settings while tweaking. I thought in AE you could reset an amp block by selecting another model then switching back again (another "effect type"), and I thought you could reset any parameter to it's default by double clicking the knob, but I'm having trouble and I think I have a misunderstanding.

I'm in "1987x Normal>Tone". I select another amp model, then switch back and I get:

Character: 0.00
Char Freq:1000 Hz
Bright Cap: 220pF

But if then double click on those parameters I get:

Character: 10.00
Char Freq: 3000 Hz
Bright Cap: 10pF

Not the defaults. Is this an issue with AE or me? Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: I'm seeing it in other places. Maybe I'm wrong about the double click on a knob to reset to default. I thought yek or s0c9 or SP posted that tip somewhere? How can I get a FW update for my BRAIN! Arghhh!

Initialize a Block Select the block and press ⌘+I (Mac) or
Ctrl+I (Win) or choose Initialize from the
Grid | Edit or Block menu.

Like double-tapping BYPASS on the Axe-Fx,
initializing returns all of a block’s
parameters to a set of default values.

Oh I see. RTFM. Double click on a value resets the generic default, not necessarily the default for that block. Hmmmm. Okay that's good to know.
