Hi! I'm having some problems with my pickups

They seem to be rusting or something where the strings hover over them. Anyone know what is happening our why and how to get it off?

The pickup is too close to the strings. The strings are rubbing on the pickup and wearing off the plating. Lower the pickup a little so the strings don't hit it. Do that by loosening the two screws.
