Posted a similar thread a week ago and just wanted to narrow down my options a bit...
I have 2 Atomic FR Passive cabs at home and nothing to power them with. So sad...:-(. I was initially leaning towards an ART SLA model amp but didn't know at the time they were sold out everywhere. I've been reading thru many of the threads here lately on poweramps and now I'm not so sure about the ss amp route. Several have claimed that the tube amps (and the ss rocktron velocity) just sound and 'feel' better than the art's, qsc's, crown's etc... But I'm wondering if this is only because they aren't using poweramp sims and full range cabs? I definetely want to use the poweramp sims but in doing so would that render the tube poweramp (or rocktron) pointless? Or should the tube amps simply sound better overall even with the sims on and thru my FR atomic cabs?
