FM9 Recording DI in Logic X issues

I can't get a dry DI signal when I record guitar into Logic. I've watched Cooper Carters video on how to use the USB method and using your audio interface. Both have failed me. I keep getting distorted guitar DI. Any suggestions.

I'm using Logic Pro X, Mac, and SSL 2 audio interface.
