IMPORTANT: IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY USING AN FM3 ON WINDOWS AND FM3 EDIT AND FRACTAL-BOT ARE WORKING NORMALLY, YOU CAN IGNORE THIS!

An issue had been identified where the USB serial driver (NOT the ASIO/audio driver) would not install on some newer versions of Windows and/or on arm64 platforms. The USB Serial driver is responsible for communication to/from the FM3 and Fractal desktop applications such as FM3 Edit and Fractal-Bot. The root cause had to do with new requirements Microsoft is now enforcing on how drivers are distributed. We have updated this driver package to conform to these new requirements.

NOTE: The driver itself and its functionality has not been changed. This update only changes how it is being distributed/installed so that Windows will trust it.

INSTRUCTIONS
If you had already installed the previous version of the USB Serial Driver, you must uninstall it first by following these instructions:
  1. Close FM3 Edit and/or Fractal Bot if running and disconnect the USB cable from the FM3.
  2. In Windows, go to Settings > Apps & features
  3. Search for FM3 USB Serial Device Driver
  4. Click on its entry and click Uninstall.
  5. Follow any prompts that may appear, including any prompts to reboot (if necessary).
If you had never installed the USB Serial driver, or you have completed uninstalling the previous version of the USB Serial driver, follow these instructions:
  1. Ensure your FM3 is disconnected from your computer and FM3 Edit and/or Fractal-Bot is not running.
  2. Download the new driver bundle zip here: FM3 USB Drivers Bundle 5p68 & 1p3
  3. Extract the zip file.
  4. Run FM3_USB_Serial_Driver_Setup_1p3.exe to install the USB Serial driver and follow the onscreen prompts.
  5. If you have not installed the audio driver, run FM3_Audio_UsbAudio_v5.68.0_2024-02-13_setup.exe as well and follow any onscreen prompts.
Thanks!

Does this address the usb audio drops that temporarily recover with buffer size change?
This only affects the USB Serial driver which is used for communication to/from the FM3 and Fractal desktop applications. The audio driver is unchanged.
