Hi,
I need some help to purchase missing items in my new studio setup. I am very new to recording my goal is to record nice songs and be able to edit the videos as well.
So so far I have
  • FM-9 turbo is just shipped,
  • Today i have purchased Mackbook pro 16 Max 32
I got usb b to usb c cable from Amazon just a simple one
I am already over budget ( because I wasn’t planing to buy new mac originally)

Here are my questions

- I just got great laptop do I really need usb interface?

If answer is yes
- I have found used presonus studio 192 mobile interface for $100 locally planing to buy that which has the spdif in and out ports
But I do see most people using apollos with no spdif out Should I spend extra money and get used Apollo instead? Is Apollo twin worth extra $300-$400? And missing spdif out?

Thank you

Great to hear that. I guess I can start without it first and see the result while I’m learning.
Thanks

I have a MB Pro 16 and FM9. Just got both.

You don’t need an interface for the FM9 but it’s nice for running monitors for garage band/logic and also just listening to music or any other audio originating from the MacBook.

I use the Focusrite 2i2. You can find them cheap on Reverb. Bought a refurbished one direct from Focusrite for just over $100.

The built in speakers are good but not even close to a good pair of monitors.
