Fernandes guitars declaring bankruptcy

I remember in the late 70s or early 80s when the government officials came into the Tosh's guitar shop - one of the best repairmen in the country at the time I truly believe - and cut off the headstock to all the Fernandes guitars fr copyright violations. He was the US distributor. The Strats and Teles were dead on designed to their year 62 Strat, 59 Tele, etc. Dead on copies. They had to change how they copied from then on. And they were cheap. I kept wanting to buy a couple but I hesitated thinking they were just cheap.
