I would like to see a completely custom drive block that had at least the following parameters:
1. Drive/Clipping Types (assymetrical, symmetrtical, Fuzz, Germanium, 12AX7A pre amp tube style, opamp style, Rat style, 808, FET, SOD etc...)
2. Graphic EQ within the Drive Block - a three band EQ would probably be fine
3. Dynamics control - loose (big - open sounding) to compressed (tight - boxy)
4. Tone Control
5. Distortion/Drive Level
6. Output Level
The idea is that if you like - say the RAT distortion type - but want to have that clipping sound with the tonal control and dynamics of say the FET BOOST - then you could just pull up the RAT distortion type in the drive section of the FET boost and tweak the EQ's and dynamics control from within so you don't have to go out of the block to get a stomp box to fit with whatever you are trying to do. That would open up the Drive block section. Just being able to change the Distortion type from within the setting you are working with is a huge improvement.
OR lets say you are digging the sound and tone of the TAPE DIST but it isn't heavy enough for you and the bottom end is flubby. You wonder what that EXACT SOUND THAT YOU'VE GOT would be like with the drive type of an 808 or Tube Driver - and a dynamics control to tighten up the flubbyness. This way you could easily keep what you've got and just tweak 2 or 3 knobs instead of another drive altogether.
