Axe Edit 3.14.3 update installs but doesn't load

I'm currently stuck on Axe Edit 3.1.4 . Each time I open Axe Edit I am prompted to download the 3.14.3 update. I've downloaded it 5 or 6 times and it successfully installs via mac OS Yosemite. However, when i launch axe edit, I'm still on 3.1.4. I have installed the drivers for Axe II and Quantum 9 so I should have everything in need. Any ideas? I'd really like to try the new Show Available Devices tool as i am trying to use axe edit to control two AXE IIs.
 
I'm wondering if its because i haven't updated Axe Edit since 3.1.4 which was a couple of years ago i think. Is there another version that i have to update first?
