AX-8 building programs just got harder.

My AX-8 won't allow me to shop for controllers when building programs of my own by right clicking Amps, Effects. Csbs etc. Anyone had this prob. I know the AX-8 is an older piece of "legacy" equipment but I do love it so! Any help would be great!

Not sure what you mean by "Shop for controllers" but the controller are found here. Not in the Amp, Effects, Cabs, section.

Right click and add the controller of choice from the source block.

The AX8 is not really an older piece of hardware. And just because newer products come out doesn't make it obsolete or work any less better.
There are some YT artists like U2John316 etc who literally used an Axefx to produce some of the most stunning sounds I've ever heard.

The Axefx has lower sound quality than the AX8 which contains all of the Axefx II drives , delays, verbs, amps etc.

In the end the guitarist makes the equipment not the other way around.
