Abrupt amp changes when switching presets

Is there any way to 'smooth' the transition from one preset's amp block to another? talking about amp sounds, not the effects. for example, if i am on a rhythm guitar patch and hit my solo patch, there is a short but noticeable transition where the sound changes abruptly. In a band setting it may not be as noticeable but wondering if there's any tricks to alleviate that problem?

That's why I set up most of my patches to have two amps (two complete signal chains, in fact) and I use a continuous controller to gradually fade out of one and into the other. I try to avoid having to switch to an entirely different patch in the middle of the song. It requires a lot of work to set it up that way, but the results are really worth it.

I have my Axe FX set up with a GC Pro to simply switch presets. There is no noticeable delay when I do it. I guess you guys are running IA's?
