4CM stereo with a head and matrix

Hi guys, here's a question for all amp users. i am currently running my axe2 with the matrix 1000 and 2 1x12 bogner cabs. What if I wanted to use a head (and make use of the head's preamp) with the axe in 4-cable-mode and still do stereo? could I return to the head poweramp for speaker A and to the matrix for speaker B? Is there any way I could put an amp block (mostly for power amp modeling) to the side that returns into the matrix and not colour the tone too much?
