3 weeks in....working on my go to Marshall tone

I had the AX8 for a little over 2 years and got to a point where I had my tone dialed in and then didn't tinker anymore. I just played. With the AxeIII I'm starting over, still tinkering. My core tone is a Marshall that cleans up with the volume knob, especially on lower output p/u's. I'm dialing it in using a Charvel HSS, Dimarzio SuperDistortion HB, Dimarzio single coils. The Super Distortion humbucker has a pretty hot output that is close to my Duncan Distortion and Gibson Classic Plus. But the Super Distortion kind of has what I believe is a flat EQ. It's kind of drab. So I've curved the input EQ to give it more clarity in the mids.

If anyone is bored of their ass and wants to provide feedback, I'd welcome the feedback. And I'd be happy to reciprocate. I've attached a work in progress with two scenes. One is a rhythm and the other is boosted with a TS808 block (not the input boost). I'm liking the tone so far. I'm curious how it plays on someone else's 'rig'. Playing thru a Xitone powered wedge. Also have some DXR10's but they have a mid coloration, so I'm not dialing it in using those. The Xitone has a broader spectrum.

If you're bored.....

You could transfer your AX8 preset into the lll with Fractool

I've documented the settings and tried the 'deep tweaks' but it didn't quite come across well. I still have my AX8 and will do an A/B later. I don't have my Mac with me so I'm unable to record it and 'test' it that way.

Also, I tried to copy my AX8 Atomica settings, which I thought really sounded good. They just don't clean up with a guitar knob. But those settings also didn't sound good on the AxeIII. So, I'm building from the ground up....which is good. We're stuck at home, so I'm tweaking between emails and phone calls. I may give the Fractool thing a try, since I've got the extra time on my hands and who knows, that may be golden. Thanks for the tip.

Fractool would take all of a few seconds 😉
