    Sometimes doesn't come on

    I’ve had this happen on my FM9 a few times too. Cycling the power switch has always worked. In my case I was powering the unit on by inserting the power cable. I stopped doing that and now power the unit on with the switch. So far the freeze up hasn’t happened since using the power switch.

    Whose tone do you want?

    Ty Tabor has used different amps over the years but there’s always one commonality in his tones. To me it sounds like the mics on the speakers are out of phase or there’s a lot of room mixed in. Whatever it is it’s fantastic and I haven’t been able to get it out of the axe.

    We usually supply and run our own sound so stereo is a non issue. Occasionally a house sound tech will ask me for a mono signal and as we know thats easy to supply. We are on ears so I do prefer to send my mix a stereo signal.

    True but remember, the louder you crank the amp the more you will perceive the high end. We’re not getting that from a modeler unless you’re able to really crank your speakers of choice.

    Personally I love 50’s style single coils like Fender’s CS54 pickups but if you’re set on a higher output I would recommend the DiMarzio Injector neck.

    I get that. If I’m lazy and switch slowly the timing of the scene change is off relative to the song so I hear it as an abrupt change.

    I paid extra attention at last nights gig. The scene changes are gapless. My issue is most likely technique. I have hold functions on scenes 1-3 for CS 1-3. If I quickly tap the switch I don’t hear any abruptness.

    My main preset is in the high 70's. I didn't mention it because it's very subtle and its also random. Sometimes my scene changes are seamless and other times the same change will have an abruptness to it. FW 6 was smooth. About as seamless as I could've hoped for.

    One way you can do this is with a small mixer. Run the Axe into channels 1 & 2, the FM into channels 3 & 4, connect the L & R outs from the mixer to the power amp inputs. No need to mess with the speaker cables. If you want to hear the Axe, turn up channels 1 & 2, the FM, turn up channels 3 & 4.

    Keep in mind, Cantrell tone is three amps blended together. I believe it was a Marshall, Bogner, Mesa soup. It’s hard to beat a Suhr Thornbucker in the neck and a DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge.

    The Suhr Thornbucker neck is a favorite of mine. Otherwise I use a variety of bridge pickups. My current favorite is the DiMarzio Super Distortion with a Series/Parallel switch.

    I never used a tone vice. I've had many D-Tuna's and once they're set up I haven't had any issues. Every FR locking nut I've had has raised the pitch of the wound strings when tightening so I need that bit of tuning available in the low E fine tuner.
