Can we please boycott "it sounds more real".

Does it really matter if it is more or less "real"? "What is real? How do you define 'real'? If you're talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then 'real' is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain." Stop making it harder than it needs to be...

FW12 to FW19 Lonestar settings advise?

Many amps benefit from lowering the bass as the gain go up. You could also try a peq before the amp block and cut some mud with a high-pass filter, or use the cut parameter in the amp block.

Try a mix of the new TV Mix #1 cab, and the old TV Green Mix. THAT's how a plexi should sound!

    Parameter Elimination

I second the comments about amp voicing. I use it very often when crafting tones for live-use, so please leave it as it is :) Yes, I know you can tweak several advanced parameters and achieve the same effect, but editing on the fly with a tight schedule, it's nice to be able to tweak just one...

Nothing beats the "TV mix" Cabs, not even UltraRes (Opinion)

I am really loving that redwirez blend of yours. It works wonders for pretty much all my patches, and it can handle any amp sim :)

CAB PACK 4 (UltraRes) Universal Noise Storage

Or mix together in mono? ;-) I have only heard the Tom's mix R from the teaser in fw14, and that one sounds amazing. I would guess that the L is the exact opposite, and that they would compliment eachother really well?

Sharing Cabs between Axe-Fx II and XL Users (cab.syx vs. cab_XL.syx)

You cannot use the same syx file with both units. You have to convert standard IRs to XL format in CabLab, and vice versa. But as your quote from the manual says, when using cablab 2.0 IRs are saved in all three formats. Normal syx, XL syx, and .ir so anyone can use them.

A little help from my friends...

Not exactly muddy, although I would watch the 200-250hz range when playing louder, it tends to get muddy there first. Also, maybe tone down the frequencies that are jumping out on the palm mutes, as they may be interfering with your bass player. No hard and fast rules, only pointers. You'll have...

    Help with Hetfield live tone

Ok, so here it is. This patch contains the same two amps that James uses for his distorted live tone. He's using the lead 2 yellow setting on the triaxis, and channel 3 on the VH4. The settings come from close-up images of James' rig. The matching of the triaxis settings are easy, since it uses...

    Help with Hetfield live tone

I don't know if you're still interested, but I made a James Hetfield preset a while ago, with the exact settings from his modded triaxis and herbert vh4. The magic is how the two amps are set eq-wise. It just sounds weird with just one of them. Like the tech mentions in that first video.. when...

Joe Bonamassa Tone - Just got paid

Of course they do. It's the frequency response of the ear. What you might want to do differently in a live situation vs a recording, is to pay special attention to the area 2-5 kHz. This is where the ear is most responsive, and can easily become very shrill at high volumes. In the studio you...

New cabs that came with firmware 13

Yes, the mix IR's were done by Fractal in collaboration with high end producers in high end studios with some of the same mics as Ownhammer. No need for mic-modelling with those either.

sooo many IR... how do guys choose???

Using PEQ's after cab block for Front of House

It mostly depends on the venue for me. Often I just leave it to the sound guy, but I always take a walk around the venue when the entire band is playing, to listen for any critical fixes that the sound guy might not hear. Besides, it's another level of comfort knowing you have the ability to...

IR shootout! OwnHammer + Pete Thorn

With all the new IRs from Ownhammer that have just hit the market, I decided to do a shootout between them and my all time favorite from Pete Thorn. And at the end I wanted to try out how they work together. I am playing the same riff four times, on the same guitar, with the same preset. The...

Axe-FX tones disappear in live band setting? What am I doing wrong?

Make your patches sizzling in the top end :) As you said, they sound fine on their own, and that's where the problem starts. It's usually how guitarists tend to tweak their sound, they don't want it to get harsh. My advice: try out your patches with Pete Thorn's IR, and you'll get a pretty good...

PETE THORN AXE-FX II PRESETS AND CAB IR!

For those of you that find the presets to be "overly bright".. don't worry! That sizzling top end is exactly right for recording, and although it may sound bright or even harsh alone, in a mix it does sound like a million bucks! All guitarist that haven't recorded much with their tone, has a...

Mesa experts... advice on 5 band EQ ?

You Shook Me All Night Long cover - Pete Thorn BE100 preset - FW 11b

First of all, this is not a perfect recording, but I wanted to try out the preset in a mix, and this the result I got. Too much gain for ACDC perhaps, but it works ;) All the guitars on the track were recorded by me with the same preset, 3 in total (rhythm left and right, and the solo). The...

PETE THORN AXE-FX II PRESETS AND CAB IR!

Couldn't agree more! I tried a few amp models with the IR in a mix, and it had just the right amount of blend between the various frequencies. And of course, thank you so much for the work you put in! This is going to elevate the Axe even further. It's really something...

Tips for Bringing Vox Amps to Life?

How to presets after firmware releases

I have always loaded new factory presets for each new firmware update. Frankly, I don't care about my previous presets when updating, and I don't mind making new presets for the new firmware. You'll most likely save heaps of time makinh new ones, than tweaking the old. New firmware, new...

    New presets tone change question

I would really recommend that you load the v10 presets again, using Axe manage in Axe-Edit 1.9 and load one bank at a time. Fractalbot was never designed to transfer presets. I used this method, and everything works as it should.

Quick question for cab block patch building
