Getting back into guitar after 1+ year of not playing - suggestions needed

[Headphones] Torn between AKG K702's and K271's

Looking for something mainly just for practicing with the Axe II, and eventually recording/mixing. I would love to go the monitor route but being in an apartment is a limiting factor. I should also note that I'm a newbie when it comes to recording/mixing, so that may be something to consider...

USB driver not working for some reason

As soon as I open midi ox a message comes up saying that there are no midi input devices connected, even though my axe is connected to PC via usb and I can play through my monitors. I tried options>midi devices and the in and out for the axe isn't even showing up. also checked the axe usb...

Need input on my high gain preset

My set up: Ibanez S770PB-->Axe FX2--Yahmaha HS80M's I have a set of Bareknuckle Aftermaths in the Ibanez. This preset IMO sounds like crap; really lifeless and thin sounding. This is my first go at getting a tone I like through a pair of monitors so I need some input. Thanks.

How can I get rid of "fizzy" sound in tone?
