REACTIVATOR by Hagerman Amps (pedal demo/review)

I used the FM3 for effects and cab sims... I now realize why Hagerman Amps calls its latest true bypass pedal Reactivator – “it’s alive… it’s alive!” This is a low to moderate gain pedal, a two-transistor/two-triode overdrive, but its tube driven components maintain that ‘warm’ and realistic...

    Orange Bass Butler (demo/review)

FM3 used for reverb and interface for this video demo (the last part, with guitar, uses the Herbert Diezel amp from the FM3): There are some well-received bass pedals and preamps on the market, and the Bass Butler by Orange ranks toward the top – and for good reason. If you want your bass tone...

No affiliation to the company.... If you’re into overdrives, and pushing your amp to new levels of brilliance, TL Pedals’ SP+ JFET true bypass will not disappoint. The name of this pedal comes from another in the TL collection, the Silver Pony (which has a similar design/concept as the original...

La Flaca by Pure Salem Guitars (demo/review with FM3 amps)

There’s a reason why guitarist collect guitars, besides the novelty of doing so. Each has its own characteristics and each a unique tool to express one’s musical abilities. It’s not only the feel and look (which can affect a person’s mindset), but definitely the sound generated through the...

METAL by Hagerman Amps (pedal demo using FM3)

Hagerman is a solid pedal-builder/engineer, and often producing unique voicings when compared to its rivals. Its METAL pedal is no exception, although not a ‘modern’ hi-gain type pedal in the modern sense – rather, METAL is described as a distortion/fuzz, and that aspect comes through loud and...

Soul Press II is a true bypass pedal and an upgrade from the original Soul Press, and with some significant changes. This pedal has Volume, Wah, an Expression out and a Volume/Wah combo. In the latter instance, the toe switch acts as a control between the Volume/Wah (shifting from one to the...

    PlexiRanger review/demo using FM3

I'm placing this here, since I used various amps/cabs from the FM3 to demo this pedal. Amazing how flexible the FM3 is and how well it receives OD pedals. Carl Martin produces some very solid pedals, in that they sound good, are easy to operate and deliver what’s promised. The PlexiRanger is no...

    Favorite drive pedals for bass?

I'm very traditional... I like using the Ampeg amp/cab (4x10), but have not experimented with the drive pedals on the FM3 for bass. I have the Hagerman VALVE going through the FX Loop (placed between the amp and cab blocks), which really breaths life into the tone... more natural sounding to my...

Heart Muller (bass/lead OD) review with demo

I thought I would post this here, as I used the FM3 for the amp/cab for bass (Ampeg), rhythm and lead (Diezel). Heart Müller, a true bypass pedal, originally was developed to be a bass overdrive. However, this latest version was tweaked in order to be used by a six-string as well. The accompany...

Greedtone Overdrive II (review/demo using FM3)

What guitarist doesn’t like effects? Certainly, there are some purists, including jazz or blues musicians (plug in an amp and play), but most of us like things that add some dazzle to our tones. My favorite are overdrive pedals, because they can make a good amp sound even better, and each OD...

Busuyi (single neck/double neck) Mini-Pro review with demo

Bass and rhythm playing is no issue. A touch cumbersome (until getting used to it) for lead. I'll be using it now and...

Busuyi (single neck/double neck) Mini-Pro review with demo

Bass playing no problem... chord playing no problem... playing in the higher register (lead) is more finnicky... you have to place your thumb along the bottom edge vs. wrapped around back. Busuyi (single neck/double neck) Mini-Pro review with demo

I did publish this elsewhere, but I thought it a cool instrument. FYI... I used the FM3 for both guitar and bass. The bass was an Ampeg with 4x10 Ampeg cab. " UltraRes " -vs- " Standard " ..... does it matter for *very short* IR's (?)

I must be the only one who kicks it in every time, lol. I find the tone clearer and lively with hi-res. Maybe it's because I'm such a fantastic player that the nuances pop better 😛😝😜🤪

How are you connecting your FM3 to your audio interface?

XLRs to 1/4-inch (into my PreSonus Studio 24C). If there's latency, I can't hear or detect it. My PreSonus goes to my computer, but also a mixer. I do have my FM3 as the audio controller. Maybe I'm doing things backward, but it works, and I don't want to frig with it!

    FM3 as Interface (serious noise)

Band in a Box has stereo level controls. One of the levels was full, at 24 dB boost. No idea how it got there... sometimes I notice the mouse acting erratically, and it does a 'ghost' change on something (for some reason more common with music programs than something like Word or Excel)...

Have you found “your” amp in the FM3?

Diezel, Powerball, Carol Ann (cleans), Fremen Acoustic Sim (for acoustic). Depends on what I'm composing and what guitar I'm using, but those are the most common grabs. I like the Friedman BE-OD Deluxe pedal, and so... I'll have to play around with a Friedman.

Exactly, if you watch the video I indicated that the concept originally was to pay homage to Iommi, and then things changed. That riff with the heavy vibe (FM3 preset by Larry Mitchell)? Originally, it was a heavy doom type distortion... and then I got Mitchell's preset and wanted to use it...

BluGuitar AMP1 Iridium into FM3 question

To be clear, I am NOT using the speaker out. Not sure where you got that. I did indicate Headphone Out/Rec Out. No load box required... no BluBox required; I am NOT using the speaker out (which would require a real cab or load box). I'm merely using the AMP1 REC OUT (headphone out, as per my...

Correct... I did disengage the built-in IR, which was 'ok' at best (when I did some sound testing I got a lot of 'sizzle' comments, and to get a proper IR). Meze Audio's 99 Classics. The clarity and crispness is unbelievable. Even when listening to pre-recorded music, every instruments stands out as though having its own frequency range. Superb... and they go for about $299 USD. And some of the most comfortable... I can wear them for hours.

Marshall Satriani Preset (4 scenes) + looking for feedback

Neither. I simply took his amp/cab and dialed in what I liked with my Majesty guitar. My interest is more in the overall quality of what I created in the preset (with suggestions) as opposed to mimicking a particular sound (since I'm not using his guitar/pickups).

All-In-One or Do you use Effect pedals as well?

I would... but it depends how much you use reverb. Likely necessary with clean tones... perhaps a hint with higher-gain stuff (to add depth, etc.).
  70. B

All-In-One or Do you use Effect pedals as well?

The FM3 is a memory hog with reverbs, even if they are lower quality (try applying a high-quality and you can't use many more effects or blocks). Consequently, I have the Black Hole by Eventide in mind for this... to replace the reverb block with a pedal, which frees up a ton of memory for the...

I don't think its anything new, for people to upload presets that you think sound a bit crappy... or that others rave as to how good they are, but you think they bite a little or maybe a lot.
