    Announcing Axe-Fx III Mark II

I might have missed it but presume or hope that more preset slots (e.g. 1024) is first priority? And/or would extra storage usage be configurable since some folks won't need or use the extras you mentioned? (Please?!)

Could be, but it seems like the effect would be the opposite if LF/HF damping wasn't fully applied prior to 14.03 (if I'm interpreting the notes correctly). Might be related to the tweaks/fixes to AMP tone controls (in some models)? Can you make and post a recording with the same DI or source...

Limited Amount of Choices in the Speaker Imp. Curve Window

Yes, as far as preconfigured "stock" curves. But we really have almost infinite flexibility in terms of tweaking the resonance frequencies, Qs, etc. IIRC it's tricky to get these measurements right as Cliff has pointed out issues with user measured curves. However, even if you don't send it to...

Recommendations for a DAW that runs on both Mac & Win?

I haven't done serious recording mostly because I've been using Audacity which is okay as a notepad but a pain to do more sophisticated things. I don't need all the bells and whistles, but core DAW functionality. Ease of use is a priority. And running on Mac+Win. Thanks!

    Anyone only use one IR?

For some of my favorite clean(er) amps (e.g. Bandmaster and Mesa Subway Blues), I'll have 4-8 different IRs (one per scene). Each gives a different character (sparkle, snap, thump, etc) that is really apparent on some clean amps. I might also tweak speaker impedance as well.

    Insert Presets Function

If this is a wish, insert would be nice but one issue with an insert function (i.e. insert N presets at some position) is that it could push N existing presets off the end and you'd lose them. Also, it would take a long time to shift every following preset N slots One option would be to use...

Which firmware made you say WOW the most?

It depends on what you mean. Amp improvements only or any block (e.g. flanger, pitch, drive) or functional improvements (e.g. dual modifiers)? Glad this is popping up again. Perhaps while @FractalAudio is digging in the modifier code this could be implemented? @Bakerman, perhaps best of both worlds would be having fixed time damping but also adding "exponential" or "inverse log" (1 - log (5,10,15,20,30)) curves to do the concave down...

Wish New dual modifier operations: Minimum, Maximum, Average, Geometric Mean

@Bakerman: I'm playing around with these curves for fun, but I'm curious if it would make sense to have an additional "taper" parameter that could make modifiers behave logarithmically or exponentially (mapped on top of min, max, mid, slope, scale - thus the net curve would be cumulative.)...

Bug? Out 3 EQ and Out 4 EQ Level

Confirmed a similar issue on Mac (1.06.11 on 13.03) for Out 3 and 4 global level settings. In Graphic mode, when typing in values into the Level slider it seems to jump between -12 and 12 dB. In Parametric mode, it jumps to what seems like the 20*log of the level value entered.

Speaker Compression and Speaker Constant Settings Sweet Spots.

For real amps with lots of headroom (e.g. Twin), it seems like one should dynamically be compressing the speaker even at moderate drive/volume (as they are loud). I wonder if Cliff could add a speaker compression "trim" or "boost" to be able to boost it when there is headroom. Or allow the...

Speaker Compression and Speaker Constant Settings Sweet Spots.

I just confirmed that Speaker Compression level (and perceptibility) does vary with Master Volume. Try it with a DR per @Jason Scott. OTOH, I do think I hear lower compression values with clean amps but maybe it's placebo.

Speaker Compression and Speaker Constant Settings Sweet Spots.

Way to unmute and mute channels in Cab block other than scenes?

You could try using one or two IRP blocks to replace one or both CAB blocks which might save CPU.
  66. yyz67

    Bug or stupidity (14.00)?

I think you mean: Cab 1 and 2 are active, 3 and 4 are muted The active/MUTE/SOLO configuration of the 4 internal cabs in a CAB block channel are fixed (like any other block). As others have said, channels are used to define other setting configurations.

Why is the Reverb input mono?

I'm not in front of my Axe, but short of the existing slow "degradation", it seems like the reverb Stack keeps accumulating without any chance of clearing out "older tails" at a predictable rate. I'd like the ability to have the Stack decay at a controllable rate for more dynamic stacking...

Why is the Reverb input mono?

Well, I feel dumb if it's that simple. Is Stack equivalent to 100% feedback in all cases? I'm not in front of my Axe but it seems a bit different in that sometimes setting 100% feedback in delays can grow uncontrollably while Stack seems better behaved. How would that work with Reverbs that...
  81. yyz67

Why is the Reverb input mono?

My question is if Stack would need to work the same way or if "degradation" is okay there. Something like Stack Regen/Feedback % (100-0) parameter...
  82. yyz67

Why is the Reverb input mono?

Funny, I was just experimenting this morning with delays/reverbs and proudly determined that the main culprit appeared to be modulation (along with a non-flat EQ response?). With it on (esp with reverbs) degradation was relatively quick/noticeable by ear and with RTA. With digital delay, it...
