    Axe-Fx III Manual Update 20.x

How do I do this in Windows or any program in Windows? I only can select one Axe-Fx III device which represents the USB 1/2 channels. In a DAW it's not a problem with all the input and output channels I get from the ASIO driver, but not in Windows. Windows 11 here, latest DSP and USB firmware...

    Electro-Voice PXM-12MP report

Just put a very clean and single note into it (clean guitar, or higher note from bass guitar, or a sine wave) and listen to the decay. You don't need volume or a strong input signal. The distortion on the decaying note was not related to overdriving the input or turning up the output of the monitor.

    Electro-Voice PXM-12MP report

FWIW, I just received a second PXM-12MP monitor from Thomann (Germany), which was on backorder, so I assume it was from a new delivery. Contrary to my first monitor I got one year ago, the new one doesn't have the problem with the distorted sound. So I hope it's a problem of the past and anyone...

Splitting EQ Frequency of guitar input.

+1 on the crossover block I did something similar in combination with the tremolo block(s), where I'd either apply the tremolo to only the upper frequency band, or where I'd use different tremolo settings for the different bands.

Is recording music in parts cheating?

I would not consider this cheating. It's kind of established practice and putting the possibilities of technology to use. If you have section A with an acoustic guitar and section B with an electric guitar, would you consider it cheating if you record it one after another because you need time...

Axe-Fx Firmware Release Version 17.01 Release Candidate

Don't know if it was introduced with this fw or earlier, but the comb filter delay type in the MultiDly block is addictive with just the stock settings already. How am I ever to get past scratching the surface? So many distracting toys :D

Wish Inverse mode for Multiplexer block (or an IMUX block)

+1 for this wish! If I didn't look for and find this wish first, I'd have reposted this. I encountered a similar task as described with the delays and spillover: 1. I want to use the Plex Verb with the built-in envelope follower. To have the full auto-swell effect, the block is in serial and...

    Electro-Voice PXM-12MP report

I've recorded two clips with the cell phone. One with bass guitar through Axe-Fx (just In1 -> Out1), the other with the Synth block (one voice, sine wave, some freq. between 100 and 200 Hz). I think it's especially noticeable with the sine wave, as the distortion changes with the volume. It...

    Electro-Voice PXM-12MP report

As this thread seems to have become the unofficial user thread - I got one from Thomann and unfortunately it also has the issue. Unwanted behaviour with default scene and MIDI (?)

@Fotukito Hey. thank you. This is indeed the same issue. Cliff answered in your thread that the behaviour was by design, though I don't get the explanation: With "Ignore redundant PC" = off, the patch gets reloaded but with an audible dropout; with "Ignore redundant PC" = on the patch still...

Unwanted behaviour with default scene and MIDI (?)

Please excuse, but your first sentence doesn't make sense to me. Furthermore, neither am I using Ableton, nor is this about the AX3. I think I've explained clearly what I'm doing and the way the Axe-Fx III reacts is also understood; it's no mystery. The question is: is this behaviour known and...

Unwanted behaviour with default scene and MIDI (?)

Thank you all for the answers. You're right, sending the program change one time and then just scene changes should be enough most of the time and would of course avoid the unwanted behaviour. I chose to include the PC everytime to make sure I get to the right patch, whatever scene I might...

Unwanted behaviour with default scene and MIDI (?)

Hi folks, so far I didn't use the scenes in the Axe-Fx II & III, as I did all the programming (bypass states and channels) in my MIDI controller. But as I got the impression that scenes and their editing in Axe-Edit have come a long way, I'll probably change over to do what's possible with...

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 16.02

Well, I sat down tonight to try out 16.02 and all the reworked preset banks. I noticed a (to me) new USB driver on the FAS homepage. It says "Jan 30th" but I think I checked regularly throughout past weeks and months and always so the latest driver being from 2018. So I haven't installed it yet. Anyone of you uses this driver and still experiences the problem?

New to Fractal - What studio monitors are people using for home use?

By recommendation I got a pair of passive Nubert speakers (German company) together with an old but very neutral Yamaha amplifier and was happy with that. After Nubert introduced their active speakers, I got a pair of "nuPro A-300" and have been even happier. To be honest, most of the time...

Mic preamp for singing through Axe-Fx?

Thanks for the responses! Do you have personal, long-term experience with it? I'm not confident about Behringer, even if it's "only" for rehearsal space purposes. That said, their midi foot controller never let me down, but it was not part of the signal (sound) chain ;-) As my drummer is...

Any chance on getting a firmware with that bug fixed before next week's Friday? I've a gig then which was supposed to be the very first with my III, but I need the looper. Maybe I can do without v. 1.15's additions and revert to 1.14 for the gig.

Axe-Fx III Firmware Version 1.15 Beta

Unfortunately the metronome seems to affect the analog outputs only. I have my monitors hooked up via spdif and there's no metronome. Accordingly, the meters do not show activity for USB out. Question about the arpeggiator

Hi all, when using the pitch block as arpeggiator, 16 stages in 1/16, shouldn't the first stage = the first note of the sequence align with the click of the metronome, when run? It seems to me that it's not the case. If this is correct behavior, is there some way to do it? Thing is, I'm using a...

Wish Setting to automatically round block parameters to the nearest whole number

I guess it would be more helpful to the OP to have no numbers displayed at all and instead have an orientation mark on it like the analog counterpart. Rounding to whole values sacrifices a lot just to please the eye instead of the ears.
  64. Sebastian

    Adrian Belew Power Trio

I guess another reason for Adrian sticking to the Ultra is the amount of time he spent with dialing and perfecting his patches. Those are probably not your typical amp-cab-delay patches but a lot of in depth FX tweaks. I think I even remember him saying something like this in a rig video or so.

    Binge shows -your favorites?

I'm no particular Anime fan, but I count "Cowboy Bebop" among my favorite shows, it being animated doesn't matter. The music, the story, the characters and the atmosphere are awesome. It's not your typical nerdy / immature japanese Manga stuff.

So the axe sounds just like an amp... now what?

I don't have to add much to the points discussed, just two thoughts: There might be a little confusion because, as it appears to me, the term "dynamic(s)" is used in two different ways: 1) sound engineering: dynamics denominate the difference of a signal's minimum and maximum volume. 2)...

Does the Axe make an onboard preamp for bass totally unnecessary?

Although I own and play a bass, I don't consider myself a bass player. That said, I guess you could do almost the same tone sculpting with the tools in the Axe-Fx. BUT the onboard preamp might add a certain color or taste you like and you don't recreate easily, just like with different pickups...

New passive graphic EQ is the $hit

According to the signal flow diagram in the manual, the graphic EQ is at the very end of the amp block (post power amp), so there shouldn't be a difference to a graphic EQ block after the amp block.
  94. Sebastian

New passive graphic EQ is the $hit

If the cab block is linear (which it is unless you use alot of motor drive) then the order doesn't matter. EQ -> cab = cab -> EQ.

Mark Five vs Mark IIC+ - John Petrucci Mark IIC+ Comparison

I doubt that he uses that much gain/overdrive when it comes to multitracking. Also, I'm not sure if those sounds cut through a mix without some serious post-EQ and mixing efforts.
