The best clean tone you've come across

So I'm in a tribute band. I have enough overdrive tones, but I'm not happy with my clean tones. There's some basic strumming, and I'd really like a terrific clean strumming tone. What are your suggestions?

Thanks~! :-)

I've gotten out of the business of clean tones, they never translate to stage in my experience. These days I use an edge of breakup tone and roll back my volume. The extra bit and harmonics make it easier to cut through the mix and it sounds clean enough. If you want really clean then Band Commander or JC120 are good options.

The Mesa Boogie Mark series has a good clean, as does TEXAS STAR CLEAN (MESA Lone Star Classic). Try Matchles Chieftain and Morgan AC20 Deluxe too.

When I play covers i like the Band commander with the master vol around 8 with a compressor and RC booster in front for more (or a lot more) saturation.
If I want more headroom I go for the CAE Clean instead :)
Good luck!

I like the Capt Hook 1A - paired up with LT TV mix 7 and/or mix 2 IR, sounds pretty good to me and works nicely through the PA.

Been using that with the Dirty Shirley (for breakup-crunch-lot of OD) for a few months, and works really well.

I've been using the 2203 Low with the Rockman Compressor in front at default settings.

Also a +1 for setting the amp input trim to 0.500 on quite a few amps.

+1.
I've always liked a little dirt on my cleans. Especially live.

Try scene 1 of this preset and see what you think.

I can never get cleans sounds to balance with my Overdriven sounds.Even after balancing levels as much as possible (in a band context), switching back to clean just gets lost entirely in the mix.

I’m not trying to get cleans out of it but this one is a beauty.
The 6G3 Deluxe is almost too simple to give starting point but it is worth to try it for clean stuff too :)
I use Gain at 1.8, Tone at 9.55 and Out Compression (Gain Enhancer) at 0.4.
The single coils are clean enough for Neil Rogers´s licks, but the bridge humbucker roars.
