Custom footswitch mode "Channel picker" does not work in a sensible way

Is this a bug? Not a bug
  1. Set footswitch hold to Custom mode
  2. Choose Channel picker for one of the footswitches.
  3. Hold that footswitch.
What I expected to happen:

The channel picker for whatever block is currently highlighted on screen or being edited is opened.

What happens instead:

It just opens the channel picker for the block under that footswitch. E.g If I set it to footswitch 3, it will open the channel picker for block 3.

This just makes zero sense to me.

The way it is working is how I expected it to work and never thought any different.
That makes total sense for Effects mode where holding the button lets you choose the channel for the block under that footswitch. But for Custom mode where you might like to program the other switches to do something else, it makes no sense to me that it is limited to the footswitch position.

While I can see a usecase for that (e.g only switch amp channels), to me there should be a separate option that switches the currently selected block's channels so it can work as an overall channel switcher.

Is your use case just for editing on the unit itself because I don't see how this would work for switching channels while playing.

Largely yes, though I suppose it could follow e.g last enabled block or something.

It just didn't feel like very intuitive functionality when you want to assign e.g different mode switches to other footswitches, but the custom mode means you lose those modes' hold functionality.

It’s working as designed. If you’re already editing a block, you’ll need to page left and change the channel manually.
What you’re describing would be counterintuitive, since the footswitch would behave differently depending on context.

We understand that some users would like deeper footswitch customization, but the vast majority are well served by the standard Gig Mode setting. As a result, additional footswitch features are limited, especially when they add complexity.
