I'm in Austin too (on lake Travis) but more into the path - got a patch of clear sky right before totality and it was pretty incredible - around 2 minutes, really clear. Much better than I thought it was going to be. My iPhone pics sucked compared to what my eyes saw.My workplace is in east Austin, so we were right on the very edge of totality.
I wouldn’t go that far. The Toronto Star posted this. And no human sacrifices to report here. Which is nice.
My best friend lives just outside Kerrville in Hunt, Texas. He told me the hardcore watchers descended on that area like pigeons from all over the world. This is pretty cool too.
See the outline of the moon on the ground. One of the interviewers asked a NASA rep. if it wasn't perfectly round because of the lack of data. He said, just the opposite. They have so much data from a satellite that has been orbiting the moon for the last 9 years, that they've been able to perfectly map the shape of the moon with all of its imperfections.

You could actually see that flare on the lower right clearly with the naked eye. I pointed it to my wife during totality. The corona/solar wind was wider than this to the naked eye, really coolGrabbed this pic. off the NASA feed.
The sun is in an 11 year cycle of maximum solar flares. Checkout the one on the bottom right.

That’s pretty cool. Can you imagine how far out into space that flare went. Mind boggling. You could actually see that flare on the lower right clearly with the naked eye. I pointed it to my wife during totality. The corona/solar wind was wider than this to the naked eye, really cool
My Mom lives in Llano. She had a big get together for it.My best friend lives just outside Kerrville in Hunt, Texas. He told me the hardcore watchers descended on that area like pigeons from all over the world.
My sisters is a retired 50 year ICU RN, and all she kept texting was be careful and don’t look at it long. Then she goes into how as you get older the cells in your retinas are weaker and damage easier. Uhg. Due to all the trauma and death she has witnessed I think she’s a bit of a hypochondriac. Oh well, she means well.Beginning tomorrow, an untold number of ophthalmologists from Texas to Maine will get to make their downpayments on those planned summer backyard swimming pools...
This one with the light cloud cover is really cool.
