Yep, and scales too. He basically made his own theory for his needs and what he likes to hear.

He had his own chord symbols that indicated the parent scale for tonality and the root of the chord at hand- not specific voicing at all- just generalization.

X= Dorian (or Diatonic really)
X Circle around it= Melodic Minor
X Circle -6= Harmonic Minor
X Circle+4= Harmonic Major
Pineapple looking shape= BeBop Major (or Barry Harris Dim 6)

If you look closely at the chart you will see progressions as such. These are so general that you gotta listen to what Allan does to even function it seems.
