Is there a was to pass midi thru the MFC while in the expansion/cat-5 mode?

That is correct. I play a Godin LGX-SA with a piezo. I process the piezo through another FX Pedal. Essentially, I add the piezo by engaging the pedal. I send a midi signal via cat 5 via the Axe II and out of the AXE II to the pedal. Works like a charm. Hope that helps.

Killer sound. A couple of questions. To clarify, if you only want acoustic you switch to an acoustic only patch. If you want a blend of piezo/mag then you use a different patch? How do you send your guitar outputs to the Axe (stereo cable, two separate cables, dual wireless, or other)...

Simeon, Thanks for the insight. I use my Axe to lead worship and need the flexibility to switch to acoustic and in all of that cover a lot of different styles of music. My first goal in the patch was to be operational from acoustic/electric split standpoint. I spent way more time on that end...

Thanks Simeon, I have attached the file. I made one change to the preset. I eliminated the Vol. block out of the end of the piezo chain to reduce the CPU load.
