Cab block -- why 20K hi-cut?

A guitar cab usually doesn't go above 6-7,5kHz, so if you want to emulate a "real" cab, a high cut makes a lot of sense. Usually i always cut around 6(,66) khz in the studio...

Seymour Duncan or Matrix power amp?

I have the smaller powerstage, and I absolutly LOVE it! Hav had many other poweramp (marshalls and mesa's), and except maybe for my 2:ninety (which weighs a ton), powerstage sounds the best to me! I thought I hated my cabs, until I replaced my Marshall 8008 with the powerstage, and found out...

Adjusting EQ on stage?

I agree that it is a bad idea to adjust the house going to FOH! Leave those tweaks to the (hopefully) experienced sound guys, whose mission is to make the band sound great together, not just your guitar :) I too hate monitor sound, as most monitors sounds like crap, and alway extremely different...

What are your opinions on running a sim cab into a real cab?

I always have my cab block last in my shcain, and have an effect loop in parallel, so that when I play gigs my cab sim'ed output goes directly to FOH, and output to goes into my SD Powerstage 180 (amazing poweramp) and into whatever cab is available on stage. People argue that this way, you...

Input 2 and Ouput 2

With the Vol/Pan you can also do it using in1 L+R and out1 L+R. Google, and especially youtube is your friend.

What is your go-to amp for building hard rock/metal patches?

For heavy I tend to end up using the 6160 Blockletter. For years I've been playing an actual 5151 blockletter, so it might just be that that's the sound I'm used to. My favorit for heavy though is the FAS Modern II (might be III, not sure). But the cabs you chose are just as important, if not...

Damping is too short. any cheats?

I don't understand the question? I agree that the axe is perfect on other instruments. I often run vocals through it for distortion or reverbs in my home studio.

A+ Seymour Duncan PowerStage 700

Just bought a power stage 170, as i was tired of dragging my Marshall 8008 around (I got the 8008 because i got tired of dragging my 2:ninety around) for stage sound, and the power stage is amazing! Sure, it doesn't sound as awesome as the 2:ninety (nothing does really imo), but it's way louder...

How many don't use reverb at all for live?

Weird recording issue/sound delay

Can be many things, but this is likely a Logic issue, not an AxeFx unit :) How high/low is your hardware buffer size? Are you recording via USB or audio cables? Are you sure both axefx and your sound card have updated drivers? Are you running many plug ins in logic? -especially on the master...

Curiosity on durability

I've had an MFC-101 breaking down during an update, and ended up getting a new one. I've had my XL in for repairs twice, as it wouldn't boot, and recently had am issue where the volume made weird dives while playing, which turned out to be my own fault, as I had is set up w George L. cables...

Gate Expander question. Rhythm/Lead settings

I turn my gate off on lead presets, but have the gate on/off switch easilly accessible, for the song that start out with a lead just in case. And +1 for Pettymusic making gate threshold adjustment part of you sound check every time!
