🔥Introducing the new AM4 Amp Modeler

Yes, real-time pitch shifting does.

Also, INHO it's not realistic to assume that the smaller and cheaper AM4 will inherit everything from the larger and more expensive units. You get what you pay for.

Yes I agree and understand. But I guess for many people a pitch shifter is essential. For me it's a deal breaker. If the full pitch block as it is now takes so much power maybe it would be an idea to rework the pitch block to a more simple pitch block so that it takes less power and could be included in the cheaper/less powerful Fractal units? I just think every modeler or multi effect unit should have a pitch shifter of some sort.

Other than that the AM4 seems like a really nice piece of gear to me....

Yeah, everyone's needs are different. Have been performing since the age of 13 and never had a pitch shifter on my pedalboards. :)

But I heard your music and know you make heavy use of it.

AFAIK is the AM4, unlike the FM3 and FM9, not intended to be an all-in-one solution.

Anyway, a trimmed-down pitch shifter, doing only Whammy and VC, I'm all for it.

Or maybe some sacrifice on the quality of included post-fx? So that way the focus for AM4 remains pre-fx+Amp/Cab.. and then folks can use the VP4 or other units in the Insert slot for fancy stereo post-fx if they want/need..

But again.. I'm sure Fractal reflected on all of these considerations and made the call they made..

Can't ever please everyone has has been said here already.

Doing some rearranging today and this week, so decided to take a pic with my AM4 and VP4 together :P Going to be putting them on top and into my AXE-FX 3 for super power if I ever need it. 3 Amps and tons of cab options and tons of effects ready to go between them all lol. :D

So AM4 vs. FM3?

Is AM4 is limited to 4 blocks?
Does it have all the same amps as FM/AXE III?
Can you use a pedal board with this in a faux-4CM method?
It seems like it's limited to 4, even the AM4 edit screenshot shows only 4 blocks. Also, FM3/FM9/AFX3 have 80 more amps and 75 more effects according to AI, maybe due to DSP power for more difficult algorithms on some amps/effects (speculation).

Now that both units have digital inputs and outputs, would it be feasible to use this as an insert point between the four blocks?

In future FWs

Anything that requires more than four blocks.
It would be more ideal if you can change the amp/IR block into an effects block if you integrate it to an FM3. Also, I would buy this right away if you can use it to extend the footswitches of the FM3 using AM4 but I don't see connections for that - please correct me if I'm worng (my credit card is ready). Then I have a more compact AM4 for practice and FM3+AM4 for more serious gigs (and I have a QC which I now use most of the time, maybe AM4 will change that).

You don't have to use the Amp block...

There's midi and that can be used in conjunction with Scene Midi to send changes to the FM3.

With my FM3 I can put the cab block directly after the amp block but also at the end of the signal chain (what I personally love sometimes to get a less "processed" sound, especially with spring reverb). With the AM4 this is not possible, right?

Why is there no comparison table :( I find it very confusing to decide which product might be the best fit.
What set up do you need? Do you build complex effects chains or does a few effects at a time work for you? Do you need pitch shift effects?

That sounds right you cant put it at the end - its part of the Amp block - not separated in AM4

Definitely no need for 4CM here. I call it an "MVP-8" ;-)
That is awesome M@! Thank you.
I really think this is another brilliant move forward for FAS.
The fact that the amp and cab block are together, leaving 3 blocks for effects, is absolutely incredible.
