Let's see those FM3 rigs!

How's the sound? I've been contemplating trying this setup myself but have struggled a lot in the past with FRFR setup in terms of getting that "real amp" feel. Hence resorting back to traditional tube amps w/ FM3 in 4CM. But am real curious about this setup ever since seeing Guthrie Govan using this setup as well.
It sounds killer. It's still FRFR, so if you really want the real amp feel, the 4CM might be your best option. But it's definitely a lot more "amp like" in that you can feel the air moving like a real cab. FYI I think Devin Townsend is using it now too.

Running mine after my JP2C for IR, EQ, and other post amp effects and then interface-DAW-Studio monitors for at home use. Boss WAZA TAE between the amp and FM3 for load box purposes only. I Would use it in the effects loop of the amp for playing out. FM3 is also controlling channels and other amp switches with scene changes.

I'm interested in the statement from the detailed post that says you are controlling and powering from the FASLink XLR. In the pictures I see connections via MIDI and DC input on the Blackstar and the FASLink and MIKI ports on the FM3. Is this some custom connection you did?
I'll chime in. I don't know about what BigStubby is using but for my rig, I am powering a 9volt expression pedal with the 12volt FAS link. I crammed a voltage regulator circuit into the XLR connector.

Like "joelster" said... The FASLink II has 12vdc (with seemingly up to 1amp) that is used to power 1 or 2 FC controllers. I used a right-angle XLR to directly power my Blackstar LiveLogic. I did have to disassemble the Blackstar to know if it could accept 12vdc (instead of the 9vdc noted), after looking up the voltage regulator (device/chip) I learned it could be powered with up to 15vdc (18vdc peak). That meant no extra work for me. It all works flawlessly!
Years ago I would use/hijack midi pins 1 & 3 (the outer most pins which are unused for midi) to add in a 9vdc power supply to create a 9vdc bus of sorts. I would then just use midi thru or other midi ports tap off of. Fairly common practice way back when. I'll do about anything to avoid wall-warts and power strips. :electricplug:

Interesting....does that work with the Fractal's MIDI out?

Nice One, @Leon Paquay
As you use a Line-Mixer: What's the second stereo channel for (assuming that ch1 is FM3)? And how is the vibrato routed?

Hi,

Thanks. Channel 1 is indeed the FM3. The second channel is for audio-in, so I can practice and play with music or backingtracks from my IPad (headphone output). The Vibrato pedal is just between the guitar output and the FM3 (guitar)input. I use the vibrato to simulate a tremelo bar because I only play guitars with fixed bridges.

Regards,

Leon
