You can trace the timelines of releases by perusing "FM3 Firmware Updates" thread. It's very easy to follow b/c it's simply dated announcements of releases. You won't learn much other than it takes as long (and as many beta versions) as it takes. Take a look at the history of v1.04.Hi I'm quite new to Fractal and am currently using and loving the FM3. I've not updated yet so wondered how long it usually takes for these beta releases to made the official release and available to download from the FA site?
I mentioned earlier in the thread that I thought that model sounded broken, and it looks like Cliff verified it has an error, so it should be fixed for the next release.I really enjoy the improvements for the Rectos and Marshalls, but I'm struggling with the Herbert3 model. If I remember correctly, in the past I could dial in immense amounts of amp gain and just get an overly saturated tone as expected.
With the current FW I can't go past 5, otherwise the tone becomes quite chocked. I've tried it with 2 guitars and also with deactivated power amp modeling, same result.
Does the Herbert3 sound right to you on really high gain settings >5?

Happy Friday everyone.
I noticed that with the new update, if I turn on a Drive block, I get a noticeable bump in volume too. I don't recall this happening before, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this. I might be doing something wrong

Yep, there's a lot to consider. You'd really have to post an example preset. Afterall, you can actually use an overdrive as a boost, so that may be what's happening.Depends on the modeled pedal. Not all are unity at 5, many unity varies with the gain settings.

Is this documented anywhere?Depends on the modeled pedal. Not all are unity at 5, many unity varies with the gain settings.
I'm not sure it needs to be. The models reflect the pedals. Where the level meets Unity is dependent on what's modeled and the other settings. Is this documented anywhere?
I realize it's probably far too complex to expect everything, but....still curious.
This stuff happens a lot on some of the presets where there were none of such issues, and where all amps and drives are properly leveled for -16/-18 dB and always below red. Also, sometimes there are audible "pops" when enabling-disabling CAB block, and sometimes even when switching channels or loading a new CR. I didn't really found a sequence which reliably leads to that, maybe I'll post a bug on the weekend if kids allow me. I'm not even sure now what were the presets, I play with SV20 for now, loving it.Depends on the modeled pedal. Not all are unity at 5, many unity varies with the gain settings.

Hey, I'm not complaining, I'm in the industry myself. The stuff you have to do on the major release of the complex product? Ugh.... Just saying I see this where it wasn't before. I actually didn't dive deep because I was pretty sure the community would catch it and report before I do!Major Fractal firmware updates in a great many situations require updating presets, just the nature of the beast.
I learned the hard way that what I like to hear when there is only a guitar, what sound good when there is some other music/backing, and what works best in a live situations are things which have nothing in common.Nothing better than your ears and the meters in the FM3.

YepNice update! Pleased with the processor usage improvements. Since amp models and such are still being massaged, can we expect at least one more beta before the public release?
All amp sims have been updated on last axe fx 3 beta/release candidate. Maybe there's still issues to fix (some say certain amp sims sound off) though. Possible there's some issues. Does seem like the final release for axe fx 3 is close.Nice update! Pleased with the processor usage improvements. I'm curious what was different between them. Did you compare them to see?Just yesterday in a jam situation I had to swap my favorite Matchless preset to a factory default "Still got the blues" preset which I would never use at home. And it sounded glorious, while my preset sucked big time.
I really don't understand how people get their presets working in both home and live situations... So much to learn. And I tune the presets when playing quite loud at home, so F-M curve shouldn't be that much of a problem.
