FM3 Now Shipping

Maybe. There's a lot we don't know about though. Some factory lines shut down for a bit to retool or optimize the production line, just to restart in a more efficient way. Other times, you may get supply gaps because input products are in shortage. Fractal may have had trouble getting a specific part for the FM3 which made them flatten the production of the FM3 until they could get the part at the scale they need, which now allows them to ramp up quite a bit.

For all we know, they could have been doing production "bursts" to test their capability of making a whole lot more on a weekly basis, but haven't had all the parts to make them in large quantities yet (which would tie in nicely with the fact that batches of people seem to get invites at once). Anyway, all that rambling to say that I'm not ruling anything out, since I don't have any inside information on their production line. Call me overly optimistic, but I'm sure the next month will be very enlightening one way or another.
Exactly. The last 6+ months have played havoc with suppliers, manufacturing/assembly, transportation and shipping, testing and burn-in in QA, final shipping domestically, etc., across all industries. We’re seeing reports Here and on Facebook that units have shipped, then sat at the hub as UPS/FedEx dealt with their own problems.

I bought a Helix Floor to tinker with (keep me from going crazy... crazier) and it sat for almost four days at UPS with no explanation. It made me nuts.

I’m on the FM3 and the FX3 list. There’s some serious mental self-abuse.

You do realise that the Pod Go =/= the Helix ? It’s not even part of the Helix ecosystem, contrary to e.g. the HX Stomp. Apples and oranges....
It’s not as powerful or as flexible as the Helix, but L6 employees on TGP have said that the amp and effects models in the Go sound virtually identical to those in the Helix and Stomp.

And not that the FM3 could be easily beat, but the longer they take, the more time there is for something better to come out.
I don't know how they're expecting to clear orders by the end of the summer if they're only on June of last year in June of this year.
And who is going to come out with it that isn’t constrained by the exact same conditions? Someone from a different planet?

FA is doing the best they can given the conditions. Sure, they don’t have Yamaha backing them like Line 6 does, but the reality is that every company that is a worldwide corporation is dealing with the same issues.

Actually it is very similar. The POD GO has the same modeling engine as the Helix and all of the same models. Patches from the Helix, Helix LT, and Stomp will open in the POD Go. The only real difference is the IO and DSP power.

Being a FAS user for over a decade now I can say without any doubt, there is nothing that comes close to FAS units. You can waste your hard earned cash on L6 and I'm speaking from experience here, BUT you will never match the quality FAS gives you. One of the most important parts is ,how it feels under the fingers and L6 ain't got it. Buy the POD GO then, when you get your FM3, you can use the POD GO for target practice. ;)

I did buy the POD Go and as I said in my original post, I was completely underwhelmed and I will be returning it and will continue to wait for my invite for the FM3

Completely agree with respect to the Line 6 products..but what about the Kemper products? yet to try those out..

And a Fractal product you are unable to buy will never sound as good as an available alternative...

A friend, who has a lot of experience in recording and in the digital modeling world, tells me I also should be looking at Kemper. I don’t like the form-factor of their “toasters“, so their floor unit might be worth investigating. Then again, I’m considering an FX3 so the toaster might be acceptable.

I've been back and forth between the KPA and FAS products for a number of years. Over the last year I certainly have toyed with getting another once since the Stage was not available when I got my last one.

Kemper rack is a decent option but I'm not sure about the floor unit. I have read mixed reviews on those.
I was reading the manual for the Kemper to familiarize myself with it, and wasn’t impressed with the need to use fixed slots for each effect and that there are limited slots available.

I was really close to buying a Kemper Stage back in December and then a friend of mine told me about the FM3 announcement, which I had not heard of. Once I started reading about the FM3, I had to dig into the differences between modeling and profiling. Wrapping my head around the difference between the two units made me settle on fractal gear. It’s definitely different strokes for different folks, but the difference between the two approaches is not small. Once you really understand the differences in the approach, I think for most players one or the other starts to stand out as the right Avenue for their needs. Full disclosure, I didn’t get on the waitlist until January, so I still have a ways to go on the waitlist, but I have talked extensively with friends who have used the AX3, and Kemper, and I am convinced fractal is what’s right for me.
