Yet another Apollo & S/PDIF issue

This is a strange one. It seems like updating to 17.02 did something to my settings somewhere, but I can't figure out where. I am feeding a S/PDIF out signal to an optical converter, then into the optical in on my Apollo Twin Thunderbolt interface. This has always worked great.

Now, however, it sounds like something is set to 44.1kHz or something...that patina of digital noise over the top of everything. I have the Apollo Console software showing that it is set to 48kHz, though, and S\PDIF as the clock source. On the AxeFX, word clock is set to INTERNAL and digital input source is set to SPDIF.

I've tinkered with things, rebooted individual devices in that chain, etc., and nothing seems to help. Am I missing something obvious?

I have the same problem, what is strange is that it does this kind of pink noise thing only with my last acquired Turbo model, it’s ok with my Mk1. It works well when not using the optical/spdif converter. Does anybody have an idea of what could cause this?
