Using Axe to emulate bass

I'm just wondering if anyone has a nice patch or method they use to drop a standard 6 string guitar down to sound like a bass guitar?

I thought about this too, since I don't own a bass. Obviously you would need a pitch block, clean amp and a large cab. I worked on it a while back but I couldn't get the dynamics quite right. I would guess that it's possible to get something passable though.

Ok, here is something I threw together in a hurry.

Preset: USA Clean
Replaced the Wah block with a Pitch block

Pitch block:
Set type to CL. Whammy
Mode (Page 2) to Down 1 Oct

Compressor Block:
Set type to Pedal 1
Increased Sustain (Page 2) a bit.

Amp Block:
Adjusted drive and tone controls to taste.

Cab Block:
Set Cab to 1X12 Studio
Adjusted Speaker Size to 1.501

Other tweaking could be done, but it's passable I suppose.

i do this quite often. You can get decent results but i dont use a pitch block in the axe i just do it in reaper.

I use the svt model and an 8x10 or something.

also use the middle position on the pickup selector.

I also use a Tube screamer VST to add some grit to it in reaper. I've been refining it over a few recordings but you can deffinetly get it sounding convincing.

Nothing beats the sound of a good bass guitar though.
