Using a Midi keyboard through the axefxII

Hey guys, just wondering a couple of things.
Does anyone use a midi keyboard through their axefxII to control plugins etc.
If so how did you do it?.

I did it to record midi notes and trigger a vsti, but only once. Worked without problem.

Plug and play: set "usb adapter mode" to on (Axe-Fx II), activate the midi channels in your DAW and connect the cable (keyboard out -> axe midi in).
